Preliminary Predictions for 810: “Goodbye Miami”

This is the beginning of the end. The literal and figurative storm is approaching. As Billy [CopaForever] suggested in his afterword to my last treatment, the Hurricane coming into Miami only intensifies the possibility that Dexter and Hannah may not be able to escape to Argentina. He suggested that Debra’s bungalow, right on the  beach, could very well be destroyed, with Hannah and Deb inside. Jennifer Carpenter posted a picture on her Twitter a few weeks ago of her in a hospital gown after shooting a scene in Dexter — I think Billy’s prediction is a good one for Deb’s fate.

Although I love Debra, don’t get me wrong, I think that her death would be the absolute best way to teach Dexter that he hurts everyone he loves. Perhaps Hannah can put up a better fight because she’s dangerous in her own right (although she did land herself in jail because of Dexter), but I would not be surprised if Hannah and Deb both go down in the storm.

As you can see, I don’t want this series to end neatly. I want a lot of death, blood, and plastic wrap. In a recent interview with Michael C. Hall, he mentioned that perhaps Dexter’s new goal is to leave his killing life behind entirely. I don’t know if I could see that — I don’t know if I want to see that. He’s a serial killer — and my favorite one — for a reason. He’s gotta kill people. He also said in this interview that the on-goings of season 2 could have been held off until a later time, and the fact that Dexter’s fate relies on Hannah so heavily is sort of a cop-out. Interesting.

I agree on this, it’s bizarre that this woman has such power over him, whereas Debra used to have a decent influence on him, too. Speaking of Debra, it’s bizarre to see Dex and Deb not the partners in crime that they used to be. Perhaps it would be best for Debra if Dexter left — of course she could not function without Harrison — we see how close those two are.

I sense a fall out between Quinn and Jamie in this upcoming episode.

We know Elway is coming after Hannah. He’s going to take on a larger role in the series than he has before, and I would not be surprised if Elway and Quinn duke it out over Debra at some point.

I want intense action in these last three episodes. Don’t fail me now, writers.
