Dexter attempts to cover up the truth of what he is to Debra while also convincing her to help him stage Travis Marshall’s final tableau: a suicide in a burning church. Detective Mike Anderson is shot and killed, opening up this season’s big case for Miami Metro. We are reminded that Deb was about to tell Dexter that she is in love with him when she happened upon his secret. The only thing left for Deb to ask is: “Are you a serial killer?”

Travis finally agrees to work with Dexter in taking down Gellar; Lisa Marshall becomes the whore of Babylon and the atheist professor becomes a part of the Bowls of Wrath tableau; Deb visits therapy more frequently; Quinn continues in his downward spiral following his separation from Debra. Louis Greene, Masuka’s intern, and Jamie Batista get close; he is later apprehended as the man who brought the prosthetic arm from the Ice-Truck Killer. Finally, we discover that Professor Gellar is just as real to Travis as Harry is to Dexter: stone-cold dead.
Brother Sam passes on with one final wish: to forgive Nick for shooting him to death. Whereas Dexter attempts to overcome his darkness, he discovers he cannot. The Dooms Day Killers take their killings to the next level and the Trinity Killer is believed to have struck again in Nebraska where the Mitchell family was holed up in the witness protection program, leaving both Sally and Rebecca Mitchell dead. The ghost of Brian Moser, the Ice-Truck Killer, revisits Dexter to play the evil angel on his shoulder (hence the 606 or 666 episode number), replacing Harry for a while. Religion and the nature of psychopathy are discussed.

Merry Christmas from Dissecting Dexter!
My incredible girlfriend recently watched Dexter in its entirety and fell in love with the show. For our six monthiversary, she recreated Brian Moser’s message to Dexter, nail polish and all! And the best part? She gave it to me frozen.
I just had to share this with you here.
Showtime’s Dexter website features a page called Dexter’s Kill Room, which gives in-depth descriptions and details about each of Dexter’s kills. Click the image below to visit the website.

Dexter gets his thirst to kill back up; in the wake of Dexter’s watery graveyard being uncovered, Special Agent Frank Lundy from the FBI is called into Miami Metro to lead the investigation. He assembles a task force, denying Sergeant Doakes, but taking on Deb and Batista. Meanwhile, Rita confronts Dexter about Paul’s accusations and uncovers that Dexter has “an addiction.” While going to Narcotics Anonymous, Lila Tournay is introduced and becomes Dexter’s sponsor; we discover that she is a great match for Dexter for several reasons. She can sniff out Dexter like the “dog” he is. Little Chino and Roger Hicks are put to rest, causing Dexter to question yet again: “Am I human?”

Dexter “takes out the trash” by getting rid of Paul; he puts the pieces together and discovers not only the identity of the Ice Truck Killer, but the truth of his past; he discovers that Angel’s attacker and the Ice Truck Killer are one in the same; and ultimately, he realizes that his sister is about to be the Ice Truck Killer’s next victim.
